Heir of Cadia

Lord Castellan Ursula J. Creed

Lord Castellan Ursula J. Creed inherited both the title and the crushing burden of her father, Ursarkar E. Creed, after his disappearance, taking up command of the scattered Cadian regiments in an age when their homeworld is already ash. A strategist of ruthless brilliance, she keeps the defiant cry of “Cadia Stands” alive even though the fortress world that first raised it is gone.

Ursula J. Creed is a Lord Castellan of Cadia and a Lord General of the Astra Militarum, and the daughter of its most famous commander. When her father, the legendary Ursarkar E. Creed, vanished, she rose to take his place, assuming both his rank and his duty as leader of the Cadian Shock Troops now scattered across the galaxy.

Hers is a title made strange by catastrophe. Cadia itself was broken during the Thirteenth Black Crusade, yet the office of Lord Castellan and the sacred obligation it carries endure regardless of whether the ground beneath them survives. In the Era Indomitus, with the surviving Cadian regiments spread across a thousand distant wars, a handful of constants anchor their courage. The defiant declaration that “Cadia Stands” is one. A Creed serving as Lord Castellan is another.

She has more than inherited her father's legend; she has forged her own. Across long years of warfare her generalship has led Imperial armies to victory after victory against the horrors that press in upon a failing Imperium. She is famed for her restless drive, demanding swift redeployment in the wake of each triumph to press her advantage before the enemy can recover, and for a strategic intuition matched by a cold and unyielding determination. In an age when a great rift of warp-madness has torn the galaxy in two and the enemies of Mankind close in from every quarter, such generalship is worth more than whole regiments, and her victories have become a rallying point for a beleaguered Imperium.

In Ursula Creed the exiled sons and daughters of Cadia find their living proof that their world's spirit did not die with its soil. She commands not a planet but an idea, a discipline and defiance carried in the hearts of soldiers who will never go home, and so long as she holds the line, Cadia stands wherever her regiments make their stand.
