The Kasrkin are the finest warriors Cadia has ever produced, the elite of a military that was itself the envy of the Imperium. They are chosen from the best of the fortress world's shock trooper regiments, many marked out as exceptional while still Whiteshields, the cadet soldiers who trained almost from birth. Their name derives from the kasrs, the great fortress-cities of Cadia in the world's own dialect of Low Gothic.
Their preparation is more gruelling even than that of standard Militarum storm troopers. Over years of specialised instruction they master close-quarters killing, demolitions, infiltration and the handling of advanced wargear that a common Guardsman will never so much as touch. Each Kasrkin bears the brand of the Caducades sea eagle upon the neck, a mark that sets him apart as Cadian elite.
In the field they wear carapace armour and carry hot-shot lasguns, higher-powered weapons favoured by elites and senior officers for the punch they deliver. Above all they are famed for their composure, holding steady and cool under fire that would break even seasoned Cadian veterans. Since the fall of Cadia during the Thirteenth Black Crusade, no homeworld remains to raise them, yet new Kasrkin are still selected from the surviving Cadian regiments scattered across the stars, carrying the old discipline into an age that has already outlived their world.
