Bullgryns, sometimes rendered as Bulwark Ogryns, are the heavily armoured close-assault specialists of their kind. Where a common Ogryn charges with a ripper gun, a Bullgryn goes to war behind slabs of protection, taking the abhuman's natural size and toughness and making of it a mobile fortress.
Their signature equipment is the slab-shield, a tower of armour plate large enough that even an Ogryn can shelter behind it, sometimes exchanged for a lighter brute shield. They wear heavy carapace known as Bullgryn Plate, and the mightiest among them are armoured in salvaged tank hulls and lengths of track worn like ersatz chainmail. For offence they carry grenadier gauntlets, which hurl short-range frag bombs into the enemy's midst, or heavy power mauls with which to bludgeon.
In the field, a rank of Bullgryns locks its slab-shields into an advancing wall, a barricade of muscle and steel that soaks up staggering volumes of enemy fire and gives the troops behind it walking cover. Casualties among the Bullgryns can be heavy, but the survivors exact a terrible price. Their grenadier gauntlets shatter the foe with point-blank blasts, and then the maul-wielders crash home to pulp whatever is left standing into red ruin.
