Dracothion's Tail

The oldest and most orthodox of the Starborne constellations, said to have been guided to safe harbour in Azyr by the great celestial drake Dracothion when the slann fled the death of their first world. Its temple-ships hang above the realms like patient stars, and its hosts blaze into being precisely where the slann's dreams require them — often before the enemy knows there is a war to lose.

Dracothion's Tail is the most orthodox of the Starborne constellations, and the one that keeps closest to the letter of the old design. Its name honours the great celestial drake Dracothion, who met the slann's ziggurat-ships as they fled the death of their first world and guided them to safe anchorage in Azyr. That deliverance is remembered as sacred, and the Tail has executed the Great Plan with unbroken fidelity ever since, distrusting improvisation the way a scribe distrusts a smudged line.

Their temple-ships hang above the Mortal Realms like patient stars, and from them the constellation descends with uncanny prescience. A Tail warhost does not march to a battlefield; it blazes into being upon one, a jungle of azure light appearing exactly where the slann's dreams foresaw the need — very often before the enemy has grasped that a war is being fought. To face them is to lose engagements one never knew had begun.

Of all the hosts of the Seraphon, the Tail comes nearest to the serene certainty the Old Ones intended. Where younger constellations improvise and the Coalesced rage, it simply arrives, strikes, and withdraws to the stars, trusting that each vanished victory has advanced a design too vast for any mind to hold — even the minds that dream it.
