Bastiladon

A colossal armoured reptile bearing either a searing solar engine or a crushing weight of celestite upon its living fortress of a shell.

The Bastiladon is a gigantic, low-slung reptile whose armoured shell is so dense that it shrugs off cannon-fire and sorcery alike, making it one of the most durable war-beasts the Seraphon send to battle. Upon its broad back the skinks mount fearsome devices: an Ark of Sotek writhing with sacred serpents, or a solar engine that gathers the light of distant stars and looses it as a scorching beam capable of vaporising ranks of the enemy. The beast itself is placid until roused, whereupon it becomes an unstoppable battering ram, crushing foes beneath its bulk and lashing out with a mace-like tail. So thick is its hide that entire volleys shatter against it, and attackers may exhaust themselves against the living fortress long before it tires. Skink crews ride in relative safety atop the shell, directing its ponderous advance toward the heart of the enemy line. To face a Bastiladon is to batter oneself bloody against an armoured mountain that answers with the fury of a fallen star.
