Goremongers

Goremongers are mortal Khorne cultists who have butchered their own bodies to resemble the Bloodletters they idolise, replacing limbs with loping augmetics and shrieking chain weapons. Ranging ahead of the World Eaters, they harpoon and run down their prey with a cunning that most of the Blood God's slaves have long since lost.

The Goremongers are what becomes of a mortal Khorne cultist who has fought beside the daemons of the Blood God so many times that he begins to envy them. Drawn from the same feral stock as the Jakhal packs, these butchers have gone further than mere worship, taking blade and bonesaw to their own bodies to remake themselves in the image of the Bloodletters they adore. They sever their own legs and graft in loping mechanical limbs, replace their arms with chain weapons, and bolt reeking gore-tanks to their backs that pump combat stimulants and drops of their master's blood into their veins.

Despite such savage transfiguration, the Goremongers retain a cunning and clarity that most of Khorne's slaves have long since burned away, making them among the most reliable killers a World Eaters warband can field. They range ahead of the main assault, infiltrating close to the enemy before the slaughter begins in earnest. Their Impalers loose barbed harpoons to drag victims within reach of the pack, their Stalkers hunt down the fleeing, and their Aspirants hack about themselves with wicked chainglaives, each of them determined to prove his devotion by claiming skulls for the Skull Throne. Where the Jakhals are a howling tide of expendable flesh, the Goremongers are a scalpel, precise and merciless in the harvesting of blood.
