Drawn from the blighted underhives and war-torn worlds that fall under the Legion's shadow, the Jakhals are humans who have given themselves wholly to the cult of the Blood God. They regard the World Eaters not as masters but as divinities, and to fight and die at their side is the highest honour their broken lives can offer. Whipped into a killing frenzy by their own leaders, they surge forward in ragged mobs, indifferent to the fire that scythes them down.
Though individually no match for a Space Marine, the Jakhals serve a vital purpose on the battlefield. They swarm the enemy in overwhelming numbers, tie up defenders, and soak the ground in blood that draws the favour of their god. Their pack-leaders drive them to ever greater excesses of violence, and some carry crude charges into the foe in acts of gleeful suicide. The Astartes of the Legion regard them as expendable, useful only for the slaughter they can inflict and the sacrifices they represent, yet the Jakhals ask for nothing more than the chance to die feeding the endless tally of skulls.
