The Skulltakers rose to infamy under Zhufor, the giant Chaos Lord who wrested command of the warband from its previous master through treachery and raw strength before binding its survivors to his will. Under him they became far more than a mere raiding band; they became conquerors, warriors who did not simply glut themselves on carnage and depart but sought to seize whole worlds and remake them as monuments to Khorne.
Their most notorious campaign came during the long Siege of Vraks, where, sanctioned by Abaddon the Despoiler, the Skulltakers threw themselves into the defence of that ruined Armoury World and cut a red path through the besieging Imperial armies. There Zhufor gathered every Khornate warband upon the planet beneath his banner and drove for supreme command, storming the heart of the enemy's power at the head of his Terminator-armoured bodyguard, the Blood Cult. Though the world was ultimately denied them, the Skulltakers escaped through the Warp to fight on, and they raid still from the Eye of Terror aboard their flagship, the Blood Dawn. To the warband, every kill is a skull owed to the Blood God, and no tally is ever counted complete.
World Eaters
Order of battle
The The Skulltakers field the units of the World Eaters — a detachment from the roster:
Kindred formations
Other World Eaters formations
The Brazen BeastsThe Brazen Beasts are an infamous Khornate warband that wages war behind a wall of daemon engines, prizing the roar of corrupted machinery as highly as the screams of the dying. They fall upon the servants of the other Chaos Gods with particular relish, grinding fortress and follower alike beneath the tracks of their Defilers and Maulerfiends and the towering war-idol they revere as the Caged God.
The DevourersThe Devourers are among the largest and most infamous World Eaters hordes, a swollen war-host that gathers the scattered warbands of the Legion whenever Khorne's favour burns brightest. They fight as a single ravenous tide, drowning defended worlds beneath a wall of chainaxes and howling thralls, and are notorious for consuming their objectives so completely that nothing recognisable remains behind.
The Red ButchersThe Red Butchers are a brotherhood of the most far-gone World Eaters, warriors whose Butcher's Nails have been driven so deep that they can no longer be trusted to stop killing even between battles. Encased in heavy war-plate and often bound in chains until unleashed, they are living weapons kept sealed away until the moment of maximum carnage, then loosed to break the enemy's strongest line.
The Skull ReapersThe Skull Reapers are a smaller, harder warband distinguished by their obsessive collection of skulls, which they regard as the purest possible tribute to Khorne. Fast, disciplined by World Eaters standards, and led by veteran headsmen, they specialise in decapitation strikes against enemy leaders, seeking the most worthy skulls the battlefield can offer.
