The Devourers

The Devourers are among the largest and most infamous World Eaters hordes, a swollen war-host that gathers the scattered warbands of the Legion whenever Khorne's favour burns brightest. They fight as a single ravenous tide, drowning defended worlds beneath a wall of chainaxes and howling thralls, and are notorious for consuming their objectives so completely that nothing recognisable remains behind.

The Devourers rose from the ruin of the Heresy as a rallying banner for killers who had lost their original warbands. They hold no fixed territory and answer to no fortress-world, existing instead as a migratory storm of violence that swells and contracts with the tides of the Warp. When a champion of sufficient renown raises the call, thousands of Berzerkers, Eightbound, and mortal cultists converge, and for a season the Devourers become one of the most dangerous forces in the galaxy.

Their campaigns follow no logic but hunger. They descend on a world, overwhelm its defenders in a matter of days, and glut themselves on slaughter until the killing runs dry, whereupon they melt back into the Warp to seek fresh prey. Imperial strategists have learned that the Devourers cannot be reasoned with, bought off, or contained; they can only be endured or destroyed. What sets them apart from lesser hordes is their sheer momentum, for once the tide begins to move it does not stop, and every kill only draws more of the scattered Legion toward the feast.
