Legion Predator

The Horus Heresy

The dependable battle tank of the Thirteenth, fought in disciplined squadrons whose interlocking fire embodied Guilliman's combined-arms method.

The Legion Predator was the workhorse battle tank of the Legiones Astartes, and in the hands of the Ultramarines it became a lesson in disciplined armoured warfare. Where more impetuous Legions committed their tanks piecemeal, the XIII fought them in coordinated squadrons, each vehicle's autocannon and lascannon fire overlapping with its fellows to form a wall of destruction no advance could easily cross. Guilliman's doctrines treated armour as one voice in a larger chorus, and a Predator squadron of Ultramar moved in concert with infantry, artillery, and air support toward a single deliberate purpose. Steady, well-drilled, and never overcommitted, these tanks anchored the Legion's line and broke enemy assaults with patient, methodical gunnery. It was an unglamorous excellence, the sort the Thirteenth's rivals mistook for caution, and precisely this depth of coordinated firepower made the Legion so difficult to destroy even after the wound of Calth.
