Legion Rapier Weapons Battery

The Horus Heresy

Crew-served siege-guns anchored where they will not be moved, the Rapiers pour patient, punishing fire from an emplacement of iron and augmetic will.

A Legion Rapier Weapons Battery was a cluster of tracked heavy weapons crewed by warriors who had made stillness a weapon, and it suited the Iron Hands' unbending way of war precisely. Where swifter Legions disdained the static gun, the Tenth embraced it, planting their Rapiers upon the ground they meant to hold and pouring out laser, shell, and phosphex with the patient, machine-steady discipline that was the clans' pride. The crews, many of them more augmetic than man, endured return fire without flinching and answered it with an accuracy that never wavered across the longest engagement. It was warfare as the Iron Hands understood it, endurance and firepower fused into an emplacement that simply would not be moved. Through the grinding sieges of the Heresy the Rapier batteries of the Xth anchored the line and broke the traitors' assaults upon a wall of relentless, unfeeling fire.
