The Legion Deredeo Dreadnought was a war-engine after the Tenth Legion's own cold heart, a walking bastion in which an interred ancient poured out ceaseless fire from a frame that would never tire, never flinch, and never yield the ground it held. To the Iron Hands its virtues were the virtues they prized in themselves, endurance over flourish, function over glory, the patient machine-certainty of a weapon that simply did not stop. Its heavy batteries threw back aircraft and armour alike, and the warrior within, already more iron than man before his interment, found in the Deredeo a purer expression of the creed he had lived by, that the flesh is weak and only the machine can be trusted. The clans revered such engines and fed them a steady diet of war. Through the grief-torn campaigns after Isstvan V, the Deredeos of the Xth held firm where living hearts might have faltered.
