Gal Vorbak

The Horus Heresy

The Blessed Sons, legionaries who survived the warp with daemons fused into their flesh, fighting as living vessels of the Primordial Truth.

The Gal Vorbak, the Blessed Sons in the tongue of Colchis, were the dark firstfruits of the Word Bearers' pilgrimage into Chaos. Chosen legionaries who had walked bodily into the warp and returned, they carried daemons fused into their very flesh, sharing their bodies with entities of the immaterium in a union the Legion regarded as holy communion rather than damnation. In the calm of the muster hall they seemed only subtly wrong, but in the fury of battle their true nature erupted, flesh splitting and reshaping into taloned, serpentine horror as the daemon within surged to the fore. They tore through power armour like parchment and shrugged off wounds that would fell any mortal legionary. To Lorgar's Legion the Gal Vorbak were proof of the covenant made real, sacred warriors who embodied the union of Astartes and god, and at Calth and beyond they were unleashed as the cutting edge of the Word Bearers' unholy crusade.
