The Legion Vindicator was a siege tank built around the massive demolisher cannon, a weapon made to bring down walls, and no Legion loved the breaking of walls more than the Word Bearers. To a brotherhood whose crusade was the imposition of a single terrible faith, the fortress that refused to fall was an affront to be answered with overwhelming force, and the Vindicator was the answer they favoured. Its dark priests blessed each shell before it was loaded, and the tank advanced beneath fluttering icons while the Legion chanted it forward, so that the collapse of a rampart became a moment of grim liturgy. Where the guns of the XVII spoke, cathedrals of the enemy's belief came tumbling down, clearing the ground on which the Word Bearers would raise their own dark shrines. It was a weapon perfectly suited to a Legion that made war upon faith itself, reducing every defiant stronghold to rubble and revelation.
