The Legion Predator was the mainstay battle tank of the Astartes, and the Word Bearers pressed it into the service of their crusade like everything else they touched. Each machine was consecrated by the Legion's priesthood, its autocannon and lascannons treated as instruments of divine wrath rather than mere ordnance, and its crews went to war believing every shell they fired an offering to their gods. In battle the Predators of the XVII rolled forward beneath icons and streaming litany-scrolls, grinding down the enemies of the true faith with a patient, righteous fury. They fought as the armoured chorus to the Legion's infantry, blasting apart the strongpoints and transports that stood between the faithful and the objects of their zeal. To a Word Bearer there was no contradiction between the cold machinery of a battle tank and the fervour of belief; the Predator was simply another voice raised in the great hymn of conquest, its guns proclaiming the word in fire.
