The Legion Tactical Squad of the Word Bearers fought with a fervour no other Legion could match, for to these warriors war itself was a sacrament and every engagement an act of devotion. Drilled in bolter and blade like any line company, they were set apart by the intensity of their belief, chanting the litanies of Colchis as they advanced and treating each fallen enemy as an offering. In the years of the Great Crusade that faith was directed at the Emperor as a god; after the Legion's secret fall, it was simply redirected toward the dark powers of the Primordial Truth, the words of the prayers changed while the burning conviction behind them remained. This made the Word Bearers' rank and file both dependable and terrible, warriors who did not merely obey their officers but believed, utterly, in the righteousness of the slaughter they wrought.
