Even the interred ancients of the XIX Legion fought in keeping with their Legion's shadowed doctrine, and a Raven Guard Contemptor Dreadnought was as often deployed for the sudden ambush as for the grinding firefight. Housing the preserved mind of a fallen hero within its armoured shell, such a war-engine carried forward the accumulated cunning of a warrior who had spent his mortal life mastering the arts of the raid, and it applied that same guile from within its adamantium frame. The XIX favoured deploying their Dreadnoughts by drop pod or concealed advance, letting these towering killers erupt from cover into an unsuspecting enemy rear where their strength could shatter a formation in moments. After Isstvan V claimed so many of the Legion's finest, its surviving Dreadnoughts became irreplaceable veterans, each an anchor of continuity for a brotherhood that had lost almost everything and a reminder that the Raven Guard's dead did not rest so much as wait for their vengeance.
