For a Legion that made war from the shadows, the Legion Storm Eagle Gunship was the perfect instrument of the swift descent and swifter withdrawal. Larger and better armed than the ubiquitous Storm Eagle patterns of other Legions favoured, it could carry a full assault squad through a hail of anti-air fire, disgorge them atop a command bastion or vox-relay, and be gone before the enemy grasped what had struck them. The Raven Guard prized it above nearly all their war-materiel, for it turned the void-black night into a highway for their raiders and let a handful of legionaries strike at a foe's heart rather than grind against its armoured fists. Painted the same lightless black as the warriors it bore, the Storm Eagle would fall from a starless sky, loose its cargo of death, and rise again, leaving only wreckage and a decapitated command where a fortress had stood moments before.
