No Legion valued the Legion Recon Squad more highly than the XIX, for whom knowledge of the enemy was the first and most essential weapon of war. Ranging far ahead of the main force in light armour and bearing specialised gear, these scouts were the eyes and ears through which Corax read a battlefield before he ever committed a single company to it. They marked the enemy's strengths and, more importantly, his weaknesses, the undefended flank, the vulnerable supply dump, the command node ripe for a decapitation strike, and relayed them back so that the Legion's raids could fall with surgical precision. Skilled in sniping, sabotage, and silent movement, a Raven Guard recon squad could operate for weeks behind enemy lines, unseen and self-reliant. In the shadow-war of vengeance that followed the Drop Site Massacre, such warriors became indispensable, guiding the Legion's diminished strength to the targets where it could do the most harm.
