The Cybernetica Datasmith is a specialised tech-priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus devoted to the control and command of the ancient Kastelan battle-robots. Bearing the sacred data-tools and command protocols of the Cult Mechanicus, a Datasmith walks alongside its charges and issues the rites and machine-cant that switch a Kastelan between aggressive, protective, and battle-line doctrines in the heat of combat.
Without a Datasmith, the mighty robots are little more than blunt automata following rigid loops; with one, they become a responsive and terrifying force, reshaped moment to moment to meet the shifting demands of battle. The Datasmith itself is no bystander, wielding a heavy war-tool to smash aside any who close on its precious constructs. To the tech-priests, the bond between Datasmith and robot-maniple is a sacred trust, the human-derived cunning that guides the relentless strength of the machine, and it is a bond the enemies of the Machine God learn to sever first, or die trying.
