Fulgurite Electro-Priests

Fulgurite Electro-Priests are the melee devotees of the Motive Force, fanatics who close with the enemy to drain the sacred current from their dying bodies. Bearing electroleech staves that leech away life and energy at a touch, they grow more powerful with every kill, their forms swelling with stolen lightning. Where their Corpuscarii brethren hurl the storm from afar, the Fulgurites carry it into the heart of the foe.

The Fulgurite congregations share the electric faith of all Electro-Priests, but theirs is a doctrine of contact and consumption. Where the Corpuscarii scatter the Motive Force as ranged lightning, the Fulgurites believe the sacred current is most holy when torn directly from a living victim, and so they seek the press of close combat above all else, wading into the enemy to harvest the spark of life at the point of a stave.

Their chosen weapon is the electroleech stave, a conductive spear that drains the vital energy from whatever it strikes. Each kill feeds the priest who makes it, the stolen current surging through his remade body until he glows with borrowed power, his augmetics singing with overcharge and his blows falling with ever greater force. A Fulgurite congregation thus grows stronger the longer it fights, an unnatural momentum that can see a handful of survivors more terrible at a battle's end than the whole was at its start.

In their fervour the Fulgurites are all but fearless, hurling themselves at foes many times their size in the certainty that the Motive Force will deliver its due. Their conductive flesh turns aside blows that would fell an armoured warrior, so that they endure punishment even as they dispense it. To the Cult Mechanicus they are living reliquaries of the machine god's animating power; to those they fall upon, they are a nightmare of glowing figures that grow only more lethal with each comrade they cut down.
