The Legion Tactical Support Squad gave the World Eaters a way to clear the ground their berserkers wished to fight over, a formation armed entirely with special weapons and mounted, more often than not, in a Rhino driven at breakneck speed toward the enemy. Flamers, meltaguns, and volkite calivers let them reduce an entrenched foe to ash and slag in moments, cracking open the fortifications and transports that might otherwise have blunted the Legion's headlong charge. In a brotherhood that disdained the patience of a firing line, the support squads existed to make the close assault possible, burning away whatever stood between the Legion and the throats of its enemies. They seldom lingered once their work was done, for the men who carried these weapons were World Eaters still, and the same Nails that drove their brothers to the charge left them scant taste for standing back once the killing had begun.
