The Legion Land Raider Proteus was the older, purer form of the Imperium's great battle-tank, a fortress on tracks built to carry warriors through the worst an enemy could offer and deliver them intact to the killing. The World Eaters loved it for exactly that. Where other Legions prized the Proteus for its explorator auguries and versatility, Angron's sons saw only a way to bring a squad of Terminators or berserkers close enough to use their axes, its thick armour shrugging aside the fire that would have scythed down warriors advancing on foot. Its sponson-mounted lascannons could gut enemy armour, but the true weapon was the cargo it carried, unleashed the instant the front ramp crashed down. A World Eaters Proteus did not support an assault so much as begin one, grinding forward through the storm until its howling passengers could at last be let loose upon a foe too close to flee.
