Interment in a Contemptor Dreadnought is meant to preserve a Legion's greatest heroes; for the World Eaters it more often preserves a Legion's greatest problem. The Butcher's Nails do not fall silent when a warrior's body fails, and a World Eater entombed within the sarcophagus wakes to find his rage undimmed and his flesh gone, a mind built for slaughter fused to an engine built for the same, with nothing left to kill quickly enough to bring relief. Such Dreadnoughts are terrible on the battlefield and scarcely less terrible off it, and the Legion's Techmarines learned to keep them dormant until the moment of release, lest they turn upon their own. Loosed at the enemy, a World Eaters Contemptor is an avalanche of murder, tearing apart armour and infantry alike with its fists and howling through its war-horns a fury that even death has failed to end.
