For a Legion that lived to close the distance, the jump pack was less a tool than a deliverance, and the Legion Assault Squad its truest expression. Screaming down on roaring jets with chainaxes already spinning, these World Eaters cross in seconds the killing ground that would keep a slower foe at bay for an hour, landing amid the enemy where the Butcher's Nails can finally fall silent in the only way they permit. There is no subtlety to their deployment and no need for any: they are aimed, not manoeuvred, hurled at the point where the enemy is thickest so that the greatest possible killing can begin. The chainaxe is the Legion's chosen instrument, a weapon that maims as much as it slays, and a World Eaters assault squad in full descent is among the most purely terrifying sights the Heresy produced, bronze and white and red, falling from the sky with murder as their only plan.
