The Legion Predator was the mainstay battle tank of the Astartes, but in World Eaters hands it took on the character of its masters. Where a disciplined Legion held its Predators back as a firing line, XII Legion crews drove theirs forward with the same reckless hunger that gripped the warriors they supported, closing to point-blank range so their autocannons and lascannons could tear open transports and strongpoints before the berserkers arrived. A Predator squadron of Angron's sons rarely held its ground for long, for the Butcher's Nails afflicted the tank crews as surely as the infantry, and a gunner who could smell the enemy found it near impossible to stay his advance. They were used not to shield the assault but to spearhead it, blasting a breach in the foe and rolling through it, guns blazing, so that the axes following behind would find the door already smashed from its frame.
