A Custodian Vexilla is both a standard-bearer and a living archive of honour, a Custodian entrusted to carry one of the Legio Custodes' hallowed banners into battle. These are not mere flags but intricate relics of the Emperor's household, each one recording deeds and vigils stretching back to the earliest days of the Unification, and to bear one is a duty granted only to the most steadfast.
On the field the Vexilla's presence hardens the resolve of every Custodian who fights beneath it, a reminder of the unbroken watch they keep and the sacred charge they serve. Some vexillas carry sophisticated wargear woven into their standards, projecting fields of protection or unleashing sudden fire, so that the bearer is as deadly a warrior as any of his gilded kin even as he holds the banner high.
