The Venatari were the huntsmen of the Legio, Custodians who forsook heavy plate for kinetic-arrestor jump packs and struck from the air with tri-fold clave weapons and kinetic destroyers. Where a battle-line had to be turned or a fleeing quarry run down, the Venatari fell upon it from above, their aim unspoiled by the speed of their descent. They favoured the decapitating strike — the officer cut down, the standard toppled, the psyker silenced before he could work his art — and then were gone before a counter could form. In the ruin of Terra they hunted through the broken skyline, dropping into traitor rear-echelons to sow terror among those who had thought themselves safe. Swift, precise and merciless, the Venatari embodied the Legio's preference for ending a fight with a single clean stroke rather than grinding it out. They were the Emperor's hunting hawks, loosed only at prey that mattered.
