Among the Ten Thousand, the Aquilon Cohort held the grimmest and most sudden duties. Its warriors wore the rare Aquilon pattern of Terminator armour, a suit so heavy and so demanding that only a Custodian's rebuilt physiology could fight in it for any length of time. Where a threshold had to be stormed, a bulkhead torn open or an enemy stronghold cracked from within, the Cohort was loosed, teleporting into the heart of the foe amid a stab of light and firepike-flame.
The Aquilon fought at the eye of every storm, striding through fusillades that would immolate ordinary Terminators and answering with lastrum bolts, infernus pikes and twin-fanged spears. Because their wargear was as irreplaceable as the men within it, the Cohort was never squandered on ordinary battle; it was reserved for the moments when a door had to be broken and the things behind it killed without pause. In the corridor-wars of the Siege of Terra, the Aquilon Cohort was flung again and again into the traitors' deepest incursions, and where it appeared, the fighting ended quickly and never in the enemy's favour.
