The Sagittarum Guard traded the guardian spear's reach for the searing fury of the adrathic weapon, an energy arm that unmade armour and flesh alike in a stab of light. Where a shield-company needed a position stripped of heavy resistance, the Sagittarum went forward, their volleys dissolving Terminators and gun-servitors and bringing down things far larger than a man. They were marksmen without peer, each shot placed with the same lethal deliberation a Custodian brought to every act, and they held their fire until it would tell. During the Heresy the Sagittarum were often set against the traitors' own elite, matching adrathic destroyers against the corrupted champions of the Warmaster, and in those duels of annihilating light it was almost always the golden warriors who walked away. They asked for no cover and needed little; their armour and their aim were shield enough.
