A Grey Slayer Pack formed the true backbone of the Sixth Legion, packs of hardened veterans who had long since shed the reckless heat of youth without losing any of its ferocity. Every Grey Slayer was a killer equally at home laying down bolter fire or wading into the press with axe and blade, and the packs prized versatility above any single specialism.
They fought as the Wolves had always fought, in close-knit packs bound by loyalty and old grudges rather than rigid formation, led by warriors whose names were carried in saga. This made them adaptable to a fault, able to shift from firefight to slaughter in the space of a heartbeat. Through the campaigns of the Heresy the Grey Slayers were the ground the Legion stood upon, the seasoned hunters who held the centre while the wolf guard and the wilder packs struck at the flanks.
