The Legion Land Raider Proteus was the oldest and most cunning mark of the great assault tanks, and the Space Wolves loved it for the promise it carried: that the packs it bore would be delivered whole into the heart of the enemy, whatever stood between. Heavily armoured and mounting an explorator array that let it range ahead of a landing, the Proteus ferried the Legion's finest killers, wolf guard and grey slayers alike, across the killing ground and spat them out where blades could do their work. The Vlka Fenryka were a Legion built to close, to look their prey in the eye before they ended it, and the Proteus made that closing possible against foes who would have shredded warriors caught in the open. In the Heresy it carried the executioners of the Sixth Legion through storm and fire to the enemies the Emperor had marked for death.
