The Raider is the workhorse of the Drukhari armada, a sleek anti-gravity craft that carries warriors swiftly and mercilessly to their prey. Its open-topped hull is a spined, wickedly ornamented platform from which passengers can pour fire down upon the enemy and from which they leap to seize the living. Trailing tangles of hooks and blades adorn its flanks, both as decoration and as a means of dragging screaming captives along in its wake.
Speed is the Raider's greatest weapon and its finest defence. It possesses little in the way of heavy armour, relying instead on its extraordinary velocity and manoeuvrability to evade retaliation. A Raider streaks across the battlefield at heights that skim the ground, banking and weaving with impossible agility before halting just long enough to deploy its passengers into the heart of the foe.
Each Raider is typically armed with a heavy energy weapon and can be further festooned with the exotic armaments the Drukhari favour, allowing it to strip the crew from an enemy vehicle or scythe down infantry as it passes. It is the perfect vessel for a race that never seeks to hold ground: it arrives without warning, unleashes its cargo of killers, and vanishes before any meaningful response can be mounted, leaving only the wounded and the missing behind.
