Among the officers of the Death Guard, the Lord of Virulence is the master of ruin at a distance, an artillerist who treats the annihilation of a fortress with the same patient satisfaction another might take in the slow spread of a wasting sickness. Clad in ancient, corroded Cataphractii-pattern Terminator armour, he strides into the thickest fighting where lesser commanders would fear to tread, unhurried and all but unkillable.
His war-plate is a grotesque engine in its own right, hung with pipes and bilge-tubes that gout streams of noxious filth. From within this reeking shell he guides the wider bombardment, his twin plague spewer drowning entire squads in corrosive slurry while his plague claws crush any foe who dares to close the distance. Yet his deadliest gift is not the weapon he carries but the influence he exerts over those around him.
Beneath a Lord of Virulence's baleful command, the ranged weapons of nearby Plague Marines, Blightlords and daemon engines reach a new pitch of lethality, their fire falling with unerring, disease-ridden precision. He is a beacon of destruction, a fixed and immovable point about which the Death Guard's firepower gathers, and beneath his gaze whole battle lines are reduced to sludge and settling spores.
