Chaos Space Marines

The rank and file of the traitor hosts, Chaos Space Marine squads are the corrupted remnants of the Emperor's finest, superhuman killers hardened by ten thousand years of endless war. Clad in ancient power armour fused with mutated flesh and daubed in blasphemous icons, they advance behind a hail of bolter fire before falling upon the foe with chainsword and brutal ferocity. Bitter, tireless and utterly without mercy, they form the backbone of every warband and legion, the immortal foot soldiers of the Long War.

Every Chaos Space Marine was once a battle-brother of the Adeptus Astartes, a warrior raised to defend the Imperium who instead turned upon it. Some fell during the Horus Heresy itself and have endured for ten millennia within the Eye of Terror; others are the newly renegade, freshly damned Space Marines who have cast aside their oaths for the promises of Chaos.

On the battlefield they fight with the disciplined lethality of their loyalist origins, wielding the boltgun with deadly precision and closing to slaughter with blade and pistol. Yet long exposure to the warp has warped them beyond humanity. Their armour bears mutations and daemonic sigils, and many carry the marks of the god they serve.

Aramented and armoured for a war without end, these warriors are the ever-present threat of Chaos made flesh: patient, vengeful, and certain that the galaxy is theirs by right. Wherever a warband musters, its squads of Chaos Space Marines form the iron core around which its darker terrors are arrayed.
