The Kingbreaker

Iskandar Khayon

Iskandar Khayon is one of the mightiest sorcerers of the Black Legion, a son of the Thousand Sons who became Abaddon the Despoiler's trusted lieutenant and a founder of his elite inner circle. Named the Kingbreaker for bringing even a Daemon Primarch to his knees, he now bides within an Imperial cell as one more piece in the Despoiler's grand design.

Iskandar Khayon was born upon Prospero and taken into the Thousand Sons as a boy, for even in childhood the strength of his psychic gift was unmistakable. He came of age within a Legion of scholars and sorcerers, and though the Burning of Prospero and the long madness that followed scattered his brotherhood, Khayon endured where so many did not. His origins mark him still, for the sorcery of the Thousand Sons runs deep in him, and he wields the Warp with a mastery few of any Legion can match.

His past is bound up with sorrow and sacrifice. His sister, Itzara, was maimed beyond healing by a psychneuein attack that ravaged her mind, and rather than lose her entirely, Khayon gave her over to the Mechanicum's forbidden experiments. Her consciousness was fused with the machine-spirit of a warship, and from that terrible union she was reborn as the guiding intelligence of his vessel, the Tlaloc. In this way she sails beside him still, neither wholly living nor truly gone, a monument to the lengths Khayon will go to for the few he holds dear.

In the long age after the Heresy, Khayon threw in his lot with Ezekyle Abaddon, and became one of the first and most trusted of the Warmaster's inner circle. He stands among the Ezekarion, the elite brotherhood Abaddon gathered to help him bind the shattered warbands of the Eye of Terror into a single unbroken host, the Black Legion. As sorcerer, counsellor, and executioner of the Despoiler's will, Khayon played his part in forging the greatest army Chaos has raised since the days of Horus himself.

It was in these wars that he earned his dread title. Khayon is remembered as the only sorcerer ever to bring the Daemon Primarch Magnus the Red, a being of near-godlike power, to his knees, and for that unthinkable feat the Legion named him the Kingbreaker. Such deeds set him apart even among the mighty, and though sorcerers of his calibre are ever mistrusted by their fellows, his loyalty to Abaddon's cause has never wavered across the long centuries of the Long War.

In the age of the Great Rift, Khayon's part in the Despoiler's designs took a strange turn, for he surrendered himself willingly into the hands of the Imperial Inquisition and sits now a prisoner within their cells. It is no defeat but a gambit, one more move in Abaddon's endless game, its true purpose known only to the Warmaster and his sorcerer. Patient, unknowable, and deadly, Iskandar Khayon waits behind his captors' walls, certain that his imprisonment serves the ruin of the very Imperium that holds him.
