The Swift Death

Lysanda Vaur

The Horus Heresy

A traitor huntress of the Death Stalkers whose reckless brilliance in a Warhound felled engines many times her own size.

Lysanda Vaur was a Princeps of the Legio Vulpa, a traitor huntress whose reckless brilliance embodied the savage doctrine of the Death Stalkers. She commanded a Warhound Scout Titan, and in that swift and lethal engine she was in her element, coursing across the battlefield in search of prey with a boldness that left even her fellow Vulpa Princeps in awe. Vaur hunted as her Legio hunted, flinging her Warhound into the flanks and rear of far larger engines to tear at their weak points before they could bring their weapons to bear, then dancing away before the counterstroke fell.

When the Heresy divided the Titan Legions, Vaur followed Vulpa into treason without hesitation, and the wars of annihilation gave her hunt free rein at last. She embraced the darkening of her engine's machine-spirit as a source of strength, and the two became a single predatory thing, quick and merciless. She was credited with the felling of engines many times her Warhound's size, kills won through sheer audacity and a hunter's instinct for the fatal moment. To the loyalists she harried, the Swift Death was a terror that came from an unguarded angle and was gone before it could be answered, a huntress whose recklessness was matched only by her lethal skill.
