The Eternity Warden's Charge

Lord Kroak

The first and mightiest of all slann, whose deathless remains still work colossal magic in defence of Itza long after his body's death.

Lord Kroak was the first slann ever spawned by the Old Ones, and the greatest mage-priest the world has ever known. In the golden age he sat at the very centre of the Great Plan, and it is said he could bend the winds of magic as easily as a lesser creature draws breath. When the polar gates collapsed and daemons drowned Lustria in the great catastrophe, it was Kroak who stood at the heart of Itza and hurled back the tide, unmaking whole legions of the Dark Gods with cataclysmic spells — until at the last a daemonic host overwhelmed even him, and his mortal body was slain.

Yet death has proven a poor cage for so mighty a soul. His faithful bore his mummified form to a golden shrine, and there, impossibly, the spirit of Kroak lingered, still able to reach out and shape the magic of the world. Now his deathless remains are carried to war upon a sacred palanquin, borne by the Eternity Wardens sworn to his protection, and when danger threatens the temple-cities the ancient spellcaster wakes to loose sorceries no living slann can match. Neither wholly alive nor truly dead, Lord Kroak endures as the eternal guardian of Itza and the living memory of the Old Ones' first design.
