The Chameleon Skinks are a rare and secretive breed of skink whose scales shift hue to match their surroundings, rendering them all but invisible amid the foliage and stone of the battlefield. Bred by the Old Ones as scouts and assassins, they slip unseen through the deepest jungle and the thickest of enemy lines alike, revealing themselves only in the instant they strike. Their weapon is the blowpipe, wielded with lethal, uncanny precision, each envenomed dart loosed to find an eye, a throat or a gap in armour that no ordinary marksman could hope to strike. Massed together, a band of Chameleon Skinks can whittle away an enemy regiment from ambush, their darts sleeting from cover that seems to hold no living thing. By the time a foe grasps where the death is coming from, the chameleons have already faded back into the jungle, silent and unseen, to strike anew from some fresh and unexpected quarter.
