The Grundstok Grundcorps is the sky-ports' professional military guild, and the Thunderers are its finished product: gunners drilled to mechanical precision in the Grundcorps academies and hired out to fleets as security details. Their aethershot rifles crack armour at ranges an arkanaut pistol cannot dream of, and their specialist weapons — grundstok mortars, decksweepers, aetheric fumigators — turn a contested deck into a firing solution.
Thunderers fight not for shares but for contract and reputation, which among Kharadron is the harder currency. The Grundcorps guarantees every commission it accepts, and no Thunderer detachment has ever surrendered a client's vessel while any of its gunners still stood — a record maintained less out of heroism than out of an institutional horror of refunds.
