The Grundstok Gunhauler is the smallest warship of the sky-fleets and the most aggressive: a two-duardin gunboat built by the Grundcorps to fly between the fleet and everything that wishes it harm. Its drill cannon can bore through a sky-beast's skull or a warship's hull with equal indifference, and its whole frame is built to its doctrine — fast, low, and always in between.
Gunhauler crews are the daredevils of the Grundcorps, pilots and gunners who treat close escort as a competitive sport. Their contracts oblige them to shield the greater vessels; their pride obliges them to do it showily, diving through flak and beast-swarms to drag danger away from the paying hull. Fleet admirals disapprove of the swagger and pay for it anyway, because a good gunhauler crew is the difference between a profitable voyage and a memorial ledger.
