The Shootas are the missile-troops of the Gloomspite Gitz, teeming mobs of Moonclan grots who trade the spear for crude bows and a bulging quiver of black-fletched arrows. Individually they are cowardly, spiteful little creatures, but gathered in their scores beneath the glow of the Bad Moon they find a mad courage, jeering and cackling as they loose ragged volleys into the foe. Their archery is wretchedly inaccurate, yet what the grots lack in skill they more than repay in sheer weight of shot, filling the air with so many arrows that some are bound to find a mark. They skulk behind rocks and fungus-thickets, darting out to shoot and scrambling back to safety, and woe betide any lone warrior caught in the open when a grot mob decides it holds the advantage. When the Bad Moon wanes or the fighting turns against them, however, the Shootas are just as swift to fling down their bows and flee shrieking into the dark.
