A Hag Queen is a priestess of the murder-god's mysteries, mistress of the sacred rituals of blood that sustain and inflame the cult. She presides over the Cauldron of Blood, anointing the witch aelves with sanctified gore that renders their skin proof against pain and their spirits deaf to fear, and her chanted prayers to Khaine can whip an entire temple into a frenzy that no enemy can withstand.
Though she wields a blade with the lethal skill common to all the cult's leaders, the Hag Queen's true power lies in her rites. Among the Daughters of Khaine she is the keeper of the faith made flesh, the vessel through which Khaine's dark blessings flow to the faithful. She drinks the blood of the cauldron to renew her own youth and vigour, and the sight of her, ageless and terrible amid the slaughter, is a promise to her sisters that the god is present and pleased. Where a Hag Queen raises her voice in prayer, the witch aelves fight as things unkillable, and the enemy find themselves facing an ecstasy of violence that mortal courage was never meant to answer.
