The Croneseer

Krethusa the Croneseer

The blind prophetess of the cult's forbidden margins — an oracle who traded her eyes for true sight and preaches that not even goddesses outrun fate.

Krethusa arrives uninvited, veiled-eyed, and always just ahead of disaster. She gave up her own sight as an offering to Morai-Heg — the ancient crone-goddess of fate whom aelven doctrine counts among the dead gods — and received in trade the only vision that matters: the branching of dooms, the debts every future owes. Omen-birds gather where she pauses, and her prophecies have an unforgivable habit of coming true.

Within a faith built on one carefully tended story, Krethusa is a walking heresy — not because she denies Morathi's divinity, but because she denies that divinity is an exemption. Fate, the Croneseer preaches, holds gods to its ledger like everyone else, and no ascension rewrites what is owed. Morathi suffers her to live, partly because martyred prophets only grow louder, and partly — so the temples whisper — because the Shadow Queen has heard some of Krethusa's dooms and would very much like to know the rest.
