Hernkyn Yaegirs

The Hernkyn Yaegirs are the ranging scouts and commandos of the Leagues, deployed when a prospecting expedition turns up a prize guarded by dangerous foes. Hard-bitten and unscrupulous, they specialise in infiltration, raiding, and sabotage, and are as willing to ignite a war between rival powers as to fight one themselves.

Where the Hernkyn Pioneers range ahead of an Oathband on their trikes, seeking claims and charting the unknown, the Yaegirs are what a Kindred sends when those claims must be taken by stealth and violence. They are elite skirmishers, trained for the missions too perilous or too delicate for the common muster, and they operate at the sharp and lawless edge of Kin warfare.

A Yaegir's methods are governed by results rather than scruple. They excel at infiltration, moving unseen into places thought secure, and they are practised agents of discord, content to sow strife between neighbouring powers and let others bleed. It is not unknown for Yaegirs to kindle a civil or interspecies war in some contested region, then stand back while it burns, so that the Kin may descend afterward and claim the spoils from among the ruins.

In open action they fight like the raiders and privateers they so often resemble, favouring terror, ambush, and the swift, brutal strike over any honest exchange of fire. They carry specialised gear suited to reconnaissance and sabotage, and think nothing of tactics a prouder warrior culture might disdain, for to the pragmatic Kin a claim secured cheaply is a claim secured well. When an Oathband needs a path opened, a defence unpicked, or a prize seized before the enemy even knows it is threatened, it is the Yaegirs who answer.
