Few machines embody the maximalist engineering of the Kin so completely as the Hekaton Land Fortress. It began not as a weapon but as a hauler, a heavy industrial vehicle built to drag bulk ore and armoured carriages across hostile ground, and something of that origin lingers in its enormous frame and cavernous interior. Adapted for war, it has become the iconic armoured vehicle of the Leagues, as respected for its endurance as for its firepower.
The Hekaton's protection is a study in Kin excess. Its hull is clad in inches-thick adaptive plating of bastium alloy, layered with hardened mineral corpuscles and threaded through with an interleaved field lattice that turns aside blows the plating alone could not stop. Six dual-core traction units drive its bulk over terrain that would mire a lesser machine, while a spectral scanner sweeps the ground ahead for threats and prey alike.
For all its role as a transport, the Hekaton is no gentle carriage. Its turret mounts a cyclic ion cannon that looses withering blasts of ionised energy, backed by a rear-firing autocannon and an array of bolt cannons that scour infantry from its path. Within its armoured belly it can bear a dozen Hearthkyn or Beserks into the fight, or a smaller complement of exo-armoured elites, delivering them intact through fire that would annihilate warriors on foot. To the Kin it is the perfect expression of their way of war: heavily armed, near indestructible, and built above all to bring its passengers home.
