the Grudgekeeper

Kôrv Grudgekeeper

Kôrv Grudgekeeper is a Kâhl of the Greater Thurian League who has made the settling of grudges his life's work. Holding the myriad races of the galaxy in cold contempt, he keeps a long and meticulous ledger of enemies who have wronged the Kin, and leads his personal Grudgekeeper Expedition from one reckoning to the next, striking a name from the roll only once its owner lies dead.

Even among a people for whom debt and grievance are the bedrock of society, Kôrv Grudgekeeper is remarkable for the thoroughness of his hatreds. A Kâhl of the ancient and mighty Greater Thurian League, he regards nearly every other intelligent species in the galaxy with an unsentimental contempt, viewing their realms as obstacles, their claims as impertinence, and their offences against the Kin as debts that must, in time, be paid in full.

True to the name his deeds have earned him, Kôrv keeps a grudge-ledger, a long roll of enemies who have cost the Kin dearly. He does not forget an entry and he does not forgive one. Once a foe has been written into that tally, Grudgekeeper fixes upon them with a patient and inescapable focus, hunting them across the void until the grievance is settled in blood. No sooner is one reckoning complete than his cold eye moves down the list to the next name, and the pursuit begins again.

To prosecute his endless vendettas he commands the Grudgekeeper Expedition, an Oathband raised and led in his own name and sworn to see his grudges through to the end. At its head he has warred across the galaxy against a great variety of foes, matching his Kin against the massed regiments of the Astra Militarum, the ravening broods of the Tyranids, and the roving warbands of the Orks, adding fresh names to his ledger in every campaign even as he strikes older ones away.

Grudgekeeper is, in many ways, the Kin temperament distilled to its hardest essence. Where his people's grievances are usually tempered by pragmatism and the careful weighing of profit against cost, in Kôrv the reckoning itself has become the profit, and the settling of debts an end in its own right. He is proof that the Leagues' cold accounting of wrongs can burn every bit as fiercely as any human hatred or Ork bloodlust, and those who earn a place upon his list would do well to remember that a Kâhl of the Greater Thurian League has the patience of the ancestors and a very long memory indeed.
