Brôkhyr Thunderkyn

The Brôkhyr Thunderkyn are combat engineers who have set aside their repair tools for the heaviest man-portable guns the Kin can build. Locked into powered exo-frames adapted from the rigs used to service voidcraft, they stride into battle hefting weapons that would cripple an unarmoured warrior, delivering anti-armour and fire support with brutal precision.

The Brôkhyr are the artificer-engineers of the Leagues, tenders of machines and menders of the void-rigs that keep a hold's fleets in working order. When a Brôkhyr climbs into one of the heavy exo-frames used for such labour and trades its tools for a weapon, they become Thunderkyn, and their purpose shifts entirely from maintenance to destruction.

The exo-frame is the key to their role. Though its armour is less resilient than the sealed suits of the Einhyr Hearthguard, it lends its wearer the raw strength to shoulder ordnance no ordinary Kin could carry, weapons better suited to a vehicle than a foot soldier. Bolt cannons of ancestral pattern, graviton weaponry that crushes and distorts, and focused beam projectors of lethal accuracy all become man-portable in a Thunderkyn's grip.

Within the Oathband's order of battle, the Thunderkyn are the answer to armour and to entrenched, heavily protected foes. They advance with the deliberate, unhurried tread of the exo-frame, plant themselves where their guns can do the most harm, and open fire, tearing apart tanks, monsters, and fortifications alike. It is a task that suits the Brôkhyr temperament perfectly, for it is simply another problem of engineering, solved with the correct and overwhelming application of force.
