Tzaangors

Tzaangors are the beast-warriors of the Thousand Sons, mutated creatures raised up by the changing power of Tzeentch into cunning and savage foot soldiers. Part man, part avian horror, they combine feral ferocity with a disquieting arcane intelligence, and the most gifted among them wield rudimentary sorceries of their own. Swarming forward in raucous, blade-wielding hordes, they serve as the expendable shock troops of the Legion, a chaotic and bloodthirsty counterpoint to the silent ranks of the Rubricae.

Tzaangors are beastmen touched and elevated by Tzeentch, their bestial forms crowned with avian features, curling horns and eyes that gleam with unnatural awareness. Unlike the mindless mutants that infest many a Chaos host, they possess a keen and often unsettling intelligence, and they revere the sorcerers of the Thousand Sons as living prophets of the Change God.

In battle they are a howling tide of fur, feather and blade. They surge forward in great flocks, hacking with crude but wickedly sharp weapons and overwhelming the foe through ferocity and numbers. The most powerful among them, the shamans and enlightened, wield fragments of true sorcery, hurling bolts of warp-fire or reading fleeting omens to guide the flock's assault.

The Thousand Sons value Tzaangors as versatile and expendable soldiery, hurling them forward to blunt an enemy's charge, seize objectives, or simply die in place of more precious Rubricae. The beasts, for their part, seem eager for such service, believing that to fight and perish in the name of Tzeentch is to draw nearer to the boundless change they worship. Cunning, savage and utterly devoted, they are the feral vanguard of the sorcerers' war.
