Cult of Time

The Cult of Time is the fellowship of the Thousand Sons devoted to the manipulation of duration itself, the most disorienting and feared of the Legion's sorcerous disciplines. Its adepts perceive the flow of moments as a malleable current, hastening their allies to blinding speed, freezing enemies in the amber of a stolen instant, and glimpsing the many futures that branch from every action. To war against the Cult of Time is to fight an enemy that seems always to have moved first, striking before the blow is even conceived and vanishing before retribution can fall.

Contents

The sorcerers of the Cult of Time hold that the passage of moments is no fixed river but a substance to be shaped, and they have bent their considerable genius to its mastery. In battle their powers manifest in ways that unravel the certainties of ordinary war. A Rubricae host may surge forward at impossible speed, crossing killing grounds in the space of a heartbeat, while enemy soldiers find their limbs mired in leaden slowness, their bullets crawling harmlessly through the air.

Most unsettling is the Cult's gift of foresight in the immediate. Its adepts glimpse the seconds yet to come and act upon knowledge no foe can share, sidestepping ambushes that have not yet sprung and countering strokes that have not yet fallen. Some among them are said to have looped brief spans of time entirely, reliving instants until the outcome pleases them.

Such power comes at a price familiar to all who serve Tzeentch. Those who peer too long into the currents of time grow detached from the present, speaking in riddles of events yet to pass and mourning the dead who still live. Yet in the patient, generations-spanning schemes of the Thousand Sons, no discipline is more prized, for a Legion that would master fate must first master the moments of which fate is made.
